Hope For The Island Child is an NGO which runs an orphanage and school on the remote Bussi Island in Uganda with the aim of transforming the lives of 10,000 vulnerable children each year. They wanted a logo which embodied their values and represented their story which would be used to raise both awareness and funds for this great project. Using an abstracted outline of the shape of Bussi Island and patterns from traditional Ugandan textiles I created an eye-catching and memorable logo which set the project up for the next phase of it’s vital work.

I took some inspiration from their blog, where i found an image with african native people, and i thought it was an interesting concept to develop as primal. I incorporated as well, in the girl´s skirt, the pyramid of human needs. This leads the viewer´s eye up and send a message that the concept is also an idea of organic. The execution is simple, and the multicolor earthy scheme relates to the word "joy".

I decided to use that concept in this logo to transmit the idea of a parent protecting their offspring.
